The bloody fingertip was discovered by a pregnant woman that was having dinner with her family.
BEACON TRANSCRIPT – A pregnant woman discovered in her salad bowl that Applebee’s latest menu item is a bloody fingertip. The customer order what she expected to be a chicken salad oriental style, but it turned out the dish was more exotic than she desired.
A custom chicken salad oriental style from Applebee is made out of fried chicken, crispy noodles, cabbage, a sort of Oriental vinaigrette which gives it its name, and toasted almonds. But the San Luis Obispo restaurant spiced up the menu with a fresh, kitchen grown fingertip.
The incident that took place last month in San Luis Obispo, California, involved a pregnant woman that was having dinner with her family. Apparently all the members of the family were sharing the menu item when the discovery was made.
The woman already filed that first documents and is preparing to sue the restaurant chain for “medical expenses, emotional distress and loss of income due to testing”. The case has not reached court yet, and there is no official declaration from an Applebee representative on whether or not the restaurant wants to settle with the woman.
To add insult to injury, Applebee declared that it has no authority in obligating the employee whose finger was found in the salad to take blood tests. The tests were requested by the pregnant woman in order to see if the human part that she came in contact with was infested with something that could prove harmful for the child she is expecting.
Fortunately, the employee did not need to be convinced by the restaurant to undergo the tests and has done so voluntarily.
The lawyer that handles the woman’s case sais body parts are rarely found in restaurant menus and people should not be concerned themselves about it. Chances are a lot higher to find a foreign object such as a ring, or a piece of fingernail, or a lost tooth, than an actual human organ or body part. He also states that people sue restaurants far more often because they break their teeth with foreign objects.
The pregnant woman that made the discovery stated that she was much more scared of the fact that the finger could harm her baby than of the chopped finger itself.
The employee that lost the finger did not make any statements.
Applebee is a dining chain highly appreciated in America. The items in the menu are typical for your bar & grill type dinner, at an affordable price range. And it seems that Applebee’s latest menu item is a bloody fingertip.
