BEACON TRANSCRIPT – It seems that BlackBerry is moving forward with its plan to push their latest smartphone on the market. According to an official statement, BlackBerry will showcase Priv in India. The company’s flagship will be accompanied by a price tag of INR 62.990 ($926).
Blackberry announced today that the new Android-ready and able phone will be available in stores all over India starting with the 30th of January. The new BlackBerry handset will also be accompanied by a price tag of 62.990 Indian Rupees (that’s about 926 US dollars).
Priv, BlackBerry’s take on smartphones, comes with some awesome features. The handset was first released in November 2015 in the United States, but the company decided that Northern America is not enough.
BlackBerry Priv is a truly unique handset which incorporates the latest smartphone technologies, but also carries on the BlackBerry tradition with its signature keyboard and trackpad. Priv weighs only 192 grams, but it packs a lot of firepower.
The handset is equipped with a plastic AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, with 16 million colors. Also, the 5.4-inch screen is build using the dual-curved WQHD plastic technology. Basically, BlackBerry’s handset will be very similar in terms of the display with Samsung Edge handset.
Among other components, the device features a Qualcomm MSM8992 Snapdragon 808 chipset, backed up by a hexacore processor and an Adreno 418 GPU. The phone has a display resolution of 1440 x 2250 and it also supports multitouch (10 fingers). Yes, you can even rest assured that your new device will be well guarded against mechanical shock because the device features the 4th version of the Gorilla Glass.
Memory-wise, the handset comes out of the box with a 32GB internal memory, which can be expanded up to 2TB using a microSD external card.
BlackBerry will showcase Priv in India, and everybody is looking forward to seeing the new smartphone in action. Priv will be shipped out with a preinstalled version of Android Marshmallow 6.0. BlackBerry also stated that they will be releasing security patches each month in order to counter the ever rising malware attacks.
To this end, during the presentation of the new handset, BlackBerry also mentioned the fact that the phone will also have DTEK, an application developed in BlackBerry’s own backyard shed. The app will secure all your personal data, keeping them safe from harm’s way.
Among other cool features, Priv comes with an 18MP back camera, with Schneider-Kreuznach lenses, autofocus, LED flash and phase detection. The back camera is backed up by a 2MP frontal camera, meaning that selfies are ruled out.
As stated, the handset will become available in stores, starting with the 30th of January.
In other news, it would seem that BlackBerry is also thinking of further expanding thei business venture. Thus, the new Android handset will be launched in South Africa next week.
