BEACON TRANSCRIPT – Two men from California could receive the death sentence for fatally shooting a 31-year-old individual in his Daly City house. Based on the police report, the victim was the romantic rival of one of the suspects.
California Man Believed That He Could Get Involved with Woman After Killing His Romantic Rival
Last week, 31-year-old Kevin Prasad and 25-year-old Donovan Matthew Rivera, his accomplice, were taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder.
According to the authorities, while working at the San Francisco International Airport, Prasad fell for one of his female co-workers. The man tried several times to convince the woman to date him, but she refused.
More than that, the woman told the authorities that she made Prasad aware on more than one occasion that she had a 3-year-old child and a boyfriend. However, the California man wouldn’t take ‘no’ for an answer.
The investigation revealed that on the 26th of April, Prasad and his friend, Rivera, plotted to murder the woman’s 31-year-old boyfriend, later identified as Mark Mangaccat.
Rivera, who agreed to be Prasad’s getaway driver, took Prasad to the woman’s Daly City residence, where they’ve waited for Mangaccat and the woman. Soon after Mangaccat pulled the vehicle into the home’s driveway, Prasad opened fire from close range, killing the individual.
The man’s girlfriend told the investigators that she did not know that it was Prasad who opened fire that day, as he was wearing a mask.
However, the California law enforcement officials were able to identify Prasad as the gunner after the woman told them about the man’s persistence.
Both were taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder. Steve Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County DA declared that Prasad and Rivera could both be sentenced to death if they are found guilty.
