BEACON TRANSCRIPT – Because surely Apple was looking forward to another device competition, this time for their iPad, Google launches its first Android tablet.
First of all, maybe we should all try and start using Google’s new name, which is Alphabet, so Alphabet released the Pixel C tablet. Although there have been other Android tablets made under the Google brand, they were manufactured by Samsung, Asus or HTC. These tablets are Nexus 7, 9 and 10. The Pixel C, however, is entirely made by Google and has a design similar to the Chromebook Pixel, which is the laptop made by Google.
The Pixel C tablet is not very pricy, starting at $499. The iPad Air 2 has the same price but offers only 16GB of storage compared to Pixel C’s 32GB. If you also want the keyboard it will cost you about $650 which is still a lot less than the iPad Pro and its Smart Keyboard which can cost up to almost $1000.
Although the Pixel C might be a competitor to the other Android tablets, the market is dominated by Apple, so the iPad range remains the main competitor for all tablets running on Android.
Despite that from all of the Android-powered tablets, the Pixel C probably has the highest quality it seems that some people believe the software is not as good as expected, while the hardware has been highly praised. However, this Google tablet is the closest thing to a competitor the iPad has.
The problem might be that Android users could be reluctant to buy it because of its price. All of the other tablets that work on Android OS are less than $200, whereas this one starts at more than twice the price.
On the other hand, it looks like the Pixel C is worth the investment. If you’re not an iOS fan, but you’ve been disappointed by the Android tablets so far, the Pixel C is a great option especially if it comes with the keyboard which has been very much appreciated by critics.
All in all, although more expensive than its fellow Android-powered tablets, the Pixel C from Google is a high-quality alternative to the iPad, in case you’re not an iOS user.
