BEACON TRANSCRIPT – Although the expectations are high, the future of space travel lies way more ahead in the future than we may hope. Dr. Morris Jones, a space flight analyst, states that there is no way we will be able to travel into space in 2017.
The difficulties regarding the building of spacecraft are innumerable. The experts are not only facing technical difficulties, but the costs are also a challenge. Even if the building of such a machine were successful, it would still remain inaccessible due to the prices. So far, space travel is neither practical nor profitable.
The attempts at space travel made so far, by Richard Branson and Elon Musk, have unfortunately been unsuccessful. However, Elon Musk has not given up and he will try to launch another rocket into space, put up communication satellites and create a capsule for astronauts. Mr. Jones declared that Elon Musk is working with NASA on these programs.
Morris Jones is also quite incredulous about the private powers taking over the spaceflight business. The government is still the only one attempting such journeys. But the American government may face some competition soon, since Dr. Jones called China “the rising space power of 21st century”.
China has quite a developed space program. They have become the third nation to develop their own astronaut launch system. In 2016 they launched a space laboratory and it’s their second one. They also sent two astronauts to live there for two months. They also launched a new rocket called Long March 5.
Besides from launching astronauts and satellites into space, they have a rising rate of planetary exploration. They have everything they need in order to become the next space power.
But NASA is not only working on the development of space travel. The successor of Hubble Telescope is on its way. The James Webb space telescope is to be used to explore far away planets and to examine the dark matter and how it messes up the universe.
Not only the hunt for dark matter will continue, but also the hunt for other Earth-like planets. There have been so many false alarms regarding life-supporting planets that one can no longer count but, with the development of technology more progress is about to be made. It’s a matter of time – and not even so much time – until some groundbreaking discoveries are going to shake the world of science.
