BEACON TRANSCRIPT – A ninety-year-old woman from the United States went on the trip of a lifetime with her family after finding out that she had ovarian cancer. Norma, a ninety-year-old with cancer chose dream vacation over treatment and it seems that she is making the most out of it.
It was hard for Norma, a 90-year-old woman from the US, to discover that she had a terrible affliction. Just two days after her 67-year-old husband passed away, the doctors diagnosed her with uterine cancer.
Naturally, the doctors recommended immediate surgery, followed by multiple sessions of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. But, to everyone’s surprise, the nonagenarian refused any kind of treatment, and, instead, decided to fulfill one of her dreams of seeing the country with her family.
And so, Norma took her son by the name of Tim, and her daughter-in-law, Raime, on a road trip. In celebration of this event, Tim and Raime decided to create an online itinerary, in which to write down everything Norma did or saw on her dream trip.
So, Raime created the Driving Miss Norma Facebook page, a noteworthy tribute to Norma’s decision of doing what she always wanted to do instead of spending her last days in the hospital, fighting against an incurable disease.
And it would seem that Norma’s enjoying every part of her journey. The first posts uploaded on Norma’s page, showed the 90-year-old granny, kicking it back, drinking a beer or two and eating some sweets. Another one depicts Normal in a beauty parlor while she was talking to the stylist about her new hairstyle.
Perhaps one of the most hilarious pictures posted by Raima and Tim was the one about Norma wanting to choose a new hat. Instead of opting for something with more decorum, Norma chose a cap with glitter and bling. Way to go, miss Norma! Why not have a barrel of laughs with your family and your newly-found friends?
Furthermore, it looks like Norma isn’t only interested in her road adventure. While on the road, Norma recalls small fancies from her past, like quotes from Katherine Hepburn or Paulo Coelho. She even shared a funny article about one of the best jobs in the world: panda cuddler.
All in all, the nonagenarian seems to have the time of the life and we can only hope that Norma’s remaining days will pass as pleasant as these moments immortalized through photos and hilarious punch-lines.
