BEACON TRANSCRIPT – According to a nutritionist, pizza is a rather healthier breakfast choice than most people’ regular bowl of cereal. Even though it’s not a healthy food option at any time of the day, pizza seems to be more balanced than sugar flakes.
This seems to stand even if it is fresh, cold, microwaved or frozen. Chelsey Amer, the nutritionist behind this claim, states that pizza is healthier because of its componence. Of course, this only applies when comparing it to the ingredients found in a bowl of cereal.
Pizza contains proteins, carbs, cheese and/or vegetables which might help give you a boost of energy. On the other side, an average bowl of cereals is rather nutritionally poor. Many cereal products rarely come with healthy fats or proteins, but they do contain spoonfuls of sugar.
“You may be surprised to find out that an average slice of pizza and a bowl of cereal with whole milk contain nearly the same amount of calories. However, pizza packs a much larger protein punch, which will keep you full and boost satiety throughout the morning”, says the nutritionist.
Amer also added that eating pizza in the morning might save you from a quick sugar crash caused by the cereals’ sugar flakes.
Is Pizza an Actually Healthier Breakfast?
Other dietitians tend to disagree with Chelsey Amer and are offering alternatives that could help increase the cereals’ nutritious value. Keri Gans, one of the nutritionists mentioned above, recommends adding berries to our morning cereals.
Also, choosing the right cereal is important for anyone looking to ensure a healthy breakfast.
However, the Daily Meal food blogger also warns that pizza ordered in the evening should be stored in the fridge. If you forgot to put it in a chilly place, it is best if its just thrown away.
