While the Boston Marathon bombing proceeding inches to a close on Monday, there is an equal debate that continues on between authorities. The debate involves questioning and challenging the federal law enforcement’s capability and resources in tracking down “lone-wolf” terrorists such as Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.
Tsarnaev had admitted that he helped his brother in detonating 2 homemade bombs, which were made up of pressure cookers. The bombs were detonated amidst a thousand crowds during the last Boston Marathon event in Boston, Massachusetts. The terrorist act killed several people and injured a dozen more.
In recent weeks, James B. Comey, FBI Director and Secretary Jeh Johnson of Homeland Security partnered in highlighting some issues related to the Boston bombing. They have now presented the challenge of stopping the increasing numbers of home-based wannabe terrorists across the country. Secretary Johnson frankly stated, in a Sunday night broadcast that such illusion of an “Islamic state” keeps him up every single night.
There have been several suspected plots recently that the federal authorities have disrupted, those involving Americans. However, the group representing the federal law enforcement says its agency has insufficient members as well as inadequate equipment in keeping up with the fast pace of terrorism threats.
