You can now add some color to your dull birthday selfies.
BEACON TRANSCRIPT – Add a brush of style to your dull birthday photos with the ever popular social media platform. Celebrate your B-Day with new Snapchat filters and new ways to improve those festive selfies.
You are probably wondering about all the fuss is about. Well, as it happens, Snapchat, the popular social media platform launched a new way of telling your friends or family that it’s your birthday. Basically, you will be able to use the celebratory filters in order to add some panache to your dull birthday photos.
How does it work? You first have to sign-in to Snapchat and tinker around with some profile information. Look under Setting and search for a field named “Date of birth”. Fill in the field with your date, and the application will automatically notify you when it’s your birthday.
Moreover, once the option is turned on, you will be able to add multiple filters to your picture on your birthday. Take a selfie and try out one of the new layers which includes colorful balloons, confetti and glittery letters.
And if this wasn’t enough for you, then you can upload the picture to your friend’s account in order to show them that it’s your birthday and that a little gift is in order. Well, besides these new filters, Snapchat also added a little birthday cake next to the birthday boy’s or girl’s name. Now that’s a pretty classy way of letting everybody known that this is your day and everyone should pat you on your back while they send you phony messages about how much they care for you.
Moving on, the answer to your question is yes: the application is actually capable of telling you if about other people’s birthdays, by displaying a cake next to their name.
So, festive photo filters are in good taste, but what is the reason behind Snapchat’s move? Well, a while ago, the mobile social media platform announced that it has launched several geo-filters. Also, we should take note of the fact that the filters were not just for show-off, they were actually created on demand.
Basically, several people wanted some kind of trinkets in order to make their photos available only to other people living in the same geographical area. Naturally, Snapchat had to deliver. And so, users opting for this thing will now be able to restrict access to a picture or to an album to people living in the same city.
Celebrate your B-Day with new Snapchat filters which are also free of charge. We can call this a fortuitous event since Snapchat decided to close down the Filter Store back in January. Instead, the company decided to focus on ads and on-demand filter for which they will charge five bucks.
