Hellblade Masters Real-Time Movement

March 18, 2016 By Gary Wymore

"Hellblade Masters Real-Time Movement"

Ninja Theory declared that Hellblade takes advantage of the Unreal engine.

BEACON TRANSCRIPT – Ever given any thought to how your character’s skin looks throughout the game or how his or hers hairs move when brushed by the wind? Take a look at Ninja Theory’s upcoming game to see what future gaming will look like. Hellblade is real; Hellblade is life, and the characters movements are uncannily fluid.

There are some things which avid players tend to ignore when approaching a new game: the little things, like hair movement, skin tone or wind-related effects. Although these things enrich one’s gaming experience, we tend to concentrate more on the plot and gameplay rather than these aspects.

But, it would seem that the dev team from Ninja Theory have decided that it’s high time the players acknowledge the small things during their gaming experience. And so, Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice was born, a game so realistic in design that it will send shivers down your spine by just looking at how your character’s lips quiver during an intense moment.

Hellblade is haunting. Every aspect of the game determines you to pop the question: what’s real and what’s not? Now, imagine playing a game where there is no graphical difference between gameplay and in-game cinematics.

Hold that thought, toss in a couple of demonical voices that pop up from thin air, a burning tree with corpses hanging from it, the Unreal engine and you get Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice.

What’s even more mind-boggling is the game’s presentational clip, which Ninja Theory showed during the GDC 2016. Dubbed an AAA indie title, Hellblade seems to go beyond its genre. During this presentation, Temeem Antoniades, the company’s chief creative director explained why he believes Hellblade is innovative.

During the 9-minute presentation, Antoniades showed the public the process behind Hellblade’s making process. In the first sequence of the video clip, the creative direct pointed out what the Unreal engine can do regarding textures.

But the next minutes were baffling indeed. Two screens set side-by-side showed Senua’a character talking versus the actress behind Senua’s voice. Equipped with an apparatus that can turn real-life motion in-game movement, the players could see that there was no difference between Senua, the game character, and the actress impersonating Senua, regarding body movement.

According to the gaming company, Hellblade will be centered on a combat-driven plot and the first version of the game will launch for PS 4 consoles.

Unfortunately, Ninja Theory didn’t mention anything about a launch window or if the game will be available for other consoles than PS4.

All in all, the game look simply stunning, the atmosphere is creepy and sinister at the same time, and the story promises to be alluring.

Below Gets New Launch Window

March 17, 2016 By Gary Wymore

"Capybara Games Set New Launch Date for Below"

Capybara Games said that Below is scheduled to launch sometime during this summer.

BEACON TRANSCRIPT – If you thought that Below will never see the light of day again than think again. During the recent IGF Awards, Capybara Games seized the opportunity to release a new Below gameplay trailer entitles “Death’s Door”. Along with the new trailer, the gaming company also said that Below’s launch window has been set for this summer.

Fans of the ever awaited horror-survival indie game will be thrilled to hear that Capybara Games has set a new launch date for the game. The game was announced at 2013’s E3 convention, and the launch window set for 2014.

However, due to some difficulties, the gaming coming was forced to postpone the launch date several times, to the fans’ despair.

Since then, two years have elapsed, and it seemed that the company kept a closed lid on the whole developing process. Moreover, most gamers thought that the 2014 postponement equaled to a cancelation.

Well, it seems that everybody was wrong about Below’s early demise, and they’ve launched a new gameplay trailer in order to prove it. Moreover, with the new trailer comes a renewed hope that the game will launch.

According to Capybara Games, the Windows and Xbox One versions of the game are set to launch sometime this summer, and this time, it’s for real.

But enough about broken dreams shattered hopes and disdain. Let’s talk turkey.

What the heck is Below?

Below is not your average indie game. According to the studio, Below is a survival-horror action adventure games, whose plot tells the story of a tiny warrior and a mysterious island.

The player’s aim is to explore an unknown island which hides more than meets the eye. Deep beneath the island is a maze filled with dangerous foes, intricate traps, and treasures far beyond human comprehension.

But to achieve his goal, the player must face some pretty nasty enemies, in a battle arrangement that intimately reminds us of the Dark Souls franchise. Capybara said that each combat encounter will be unique and balanced. Moreover, they’ve mentioned something about fights being both tough and fair at the same time.

And now for a little turn-off. Sometime during the game, the players must face the possibility of utter failure, meaning that one battle could make the difference between continuing your trip and starting all over.

It seems that we’re in for quite a trip littered with anger, frustration and the urge to break our controllers.

All in all, the developers promised us a thrilling experience. So, arm yourself with a little more patient because the spam’s about to hit the fan pretty soon.

Without further ado, here’s the new gameplay trailer Capybara Games released during the IGF Awards.

And to see whether the game is worth waiting for or not, here’s another clip about the game’s first 9 minutes.

Cawthon Pulls Freddy’s World from Steam

January 27, 2016 By Jennifer Licata

"Cawthon Pulls Freddy’s World from Steam "

Five Nights at Freddy’s World was pulled from Steam due to poor reviews.

BEACON TRANSCRIPT – Maybe the most important aspect developers should keep in mind before releasing the games is to determine if the game is ready to hit the market or if it needs to be redesigned. Scott Cawthon pulls Freddy’s World from Steam due to poor user reviews.

Five Night’s at Freddy’s is considered by most indie game lovers the freakiest game ever released. It’s one thing to get a good fright from a good, but it’s another thing to go and lock yourself into the shower while screaming like a madman.

That’s what you get if you dare to enter the world of Five Nights at Freddy’s. Remember Dead Space and those accursed xenomorphs which popped out of nowhere? Wall panels, chairs, desks, it did not matter to them. They were everywhere and every time one of those creepy split-headed monsters came out of nowhere to bash your teeth in, you would’ve jumped 10 meters into the air.

Well, as frightening as Dead Space is and was, it has nothing of Five Nights at Freddy’s. It’s one thing to be chased down on poorly lit corridors by deformed mutants, and it’s something else entirely to flee from satanic plush toys.

Yes, you heard it right. Instead of running and hiding from hideously deformed spawns of Hell, you now have to escape from a house possessed by fluffy creatures. And every time one of those fluffy toys appeared on your screen, you would not only jump out of your chair, but you would also search for the light switch, and a crowbar, and probably some holy water and cross.

In terms of accomplishments, it would seem that Five Nights at Freddy’s has become the most popular indie first-person perspective horror game. And guess what? You can’t fight the creatures, you can’t shoot them and you’ll unable to anything in order to stop them. The only thing you can do is to run and hide.

The last installment of the game called Five Nights at Freddy’s World should have been Cawthon’s crowning achievement in the area of horror survival games. But it seems something went terribly wrong with the game.

According to Scott Cawthon, the developer of the game, he and his team have decided to pull the game off the market. This means that the game will no longer be available on Steam and that the users who went ahead to buy the game are entitled to a refund.

When asked about his decision, Cawthon argued that he thinks the game needs more adjustments before it can be properly launched on the market. Over the next few weeks, the senior game designer and its staff will redesign the game.

Also, the company announced that the refund time limit has been eliminated, meaning that it doesn’t matter when you bought the game, you’ll the money back anyway.

Cawthon pulls Freddy’s World from Steam in order to make some modifications. The senior game designer also added that once the game is finished, the gamers will be able to download Freddy’s World for free.
