Sony Halts Shipping PlayStation TV in Japan

February 29, 2016 By Jennifer Licata

"Sony Halts Shipping PlayStation TV in Japan"

The Nippon tech company acknowledged that the PS TV set was not popular.

BEACON TRANSCRIPT – Unfortunately, we have a piece of bad news for console fans. Recently, the tech giant Sony announced thatit will stop producing the fairly popular PlayStation Vita TV in Japan. Sony halts shipping PlayStation TV in Japan much to the discontent of some of its fans.

In a recent press statement, Sony announced that it will no longer ship PS TVs in Japan. Unfortunately, the tech giant was pretty vague concerning the global situation, meaning that we don’t know if Sony’s plans of halting production of the TV set is limited to Japan or if it affects the rest of the world as well.

Meanwhile, in the lack of an explanation, we can only speculate on the reasons behind Sony’s move. Well, we all know for a fact that the PS TV was not a big hit on the market. Sony wanted PlayStation Vita TV to be the ultimate home-entertainment gadget. Launched in 2013, PS Vita TV was more than a TV set. Apart from the TV routine, the box-like gadget was also a console and a streaming device.

However, things didn’t turn up as Sony planned. Indeed, you could have used the PS Vita in order to play some games, but, only a few of them. In fact, one of the key factors that led to the Vita’s downfall was that the console couldn’t be used in order to play the latest titles. Well, so much for the gaming console feature.

I mean, why would you buy a 70-dollar “gaming” console to play the same games you would normally play using a PS 1? And for the streaming part, we guess that there are far more reliable and cheap TV sets you can use in order to stream your favorite online channels.

Well, a couple of months after the big event, Sony acknowledge that the TV set wasn’t that popular. And so, they’ve decided to cut out a price a bit. So, for a couple of months, everyone could have gotten the dubious TV/console set for a measly 40 bucks. But, it would seem that even this move couldn’t have saved the console from its fate.

So, recently, Sony announced that it will no longer ship the TV hub in Japan, but did not disclose anything about the rest of the world. If the situation affects the global sales, then it will be pretty hard to find another PS TV on the market.

Two Species of Big Mouthed Fish were discovered

February 9, 2016 By Gary Wymore

"Two Species of Big Mouthed Fish were discovered "

The two newly discovered species of big mouthed fish measured approximately 6.5 feet in lenght.

BEACON TRANSCRIPT – An international team of researchers has discovered the remains of two new species of fish. According to their paper, these 6.5-feet fish had a gigantic mouth and were able to gulp down plankton like a vacuum cleaner. The two species of big mouthed fish were discovered in Japan and the United States.

This exceptional new discovery proves that we still have more to learn about our planet’s natural history. Moreover, it looks like the sea still holds its mysteries in a tight grip. These conclusions and many more have been drawn by an international group of scientists who have discovered two new species of fish.

According to the soon-to-be-published paper, the two new species of fish belong to a genus called Rhinconichthys. This new genus is allegedly named after a species of sharks called Rhincodon, or the whale shark.

According to the scientifical literature on the matter, the whale shark is considered the largest nonmammalian invertebrate. Official sources have confirmed that the largest specimen of the species measured approximately 41.5 feet in length and weighed approximately 47.000 lb. It is very likely that the new species of filter feeding fish discovered in the US and Japan are related to the modern whale shark, if we take a closer look at their physical traits.

The new species of big mouthed were dubbed Rhinconichthys purgatoirensis and Rhinconichthys uyenoi. The first species was discovered near Colorado while the other was originally found in Japan.

R.uyenoi, the species found in Japan, were placed in another genus. However, due to the recent discovery in the US which backed up the first species of Rhinconichthys discovered in the United Kingdom at the end of the 19th century, the Japanese paleontologists decided to reconsider the fish’s genus.

Two species of big mouthed fish were discovered in US and Japan. According to their finding, the ancestors of the modern whale shark lived during the Cretaceous Era, circa 92 million years ago. Like its distant cousin, the two species of fish had large oar-like mouths which they used in order to feed on the local phytoplankton.

According to the specialists, the fish was capable of opening its mouth to great extents, making quick work of any phytoplankton. Using 3D modeling, the scientists have determined that the two species of fish reached a length of 6.5 feet, and, like their distant cousin, they were very rare sights.

The study will be published in the next issue of the International Scientific Journal and, as stated, it represents the fruitful collaboration between the US, UK and Japan.

Sakurajima Volcano Put on an Impressive Display of Fireworks

"Sakurajima Volcano Put on an Impressive Display of Fireworks"

Sakurajima erupted on Friday evening, around 7 pm.

BEACON TRANSCRIPT – Although volcano eruptions are considered very rare these days, it would see, that, from time to time, one this sleeping giant decide to awaken and wreak some havoc, all to the delight and the disdain of the public. The Sakurajima volcano put on an impressive display of firework on Friday evening.

The impressive event took place on Friday evening, around 7 pm. Although it is not as spectacular as the 2013 eruption, the sleeping Nippon giant managed to put on quite a show for the public. And this time, there were no casualties involved.

After the sleeping giant awakened, Japan’s Meteorological Agency emitted a nation-wide alert. Moreover, the scientists working for the agency took additional precautions by banning entry to the area. As of now, the Nippon authorities created a no-go zone around the area of the crater, which has a 2-kilometer radius.

According to Japan’s Meteorological Agency, Sakurajima is one of the most active volcanoes on the island of Japan. The sleeping giant awakened before in 2013 and it managed to enchant the public with its monstrous display of firework.

A Japanese public broadcaster transmitted several footages of the roaring giant spitting incandescent lava on its slippery slopes. Moreover, it would seem that when the volcano erupted, smoke rose above 2 kilometers into the air. We can also see in the footage that in the moment of eruption, there were bursts of lightning surrounding the summit of the volcano.

Also, Sakurajima, apart from spitting tons of molten rocks, managed to enchant the public with its dazzling colors, ranging from a bright orange, to pitch black. According to the authorities, no injuries were reported at the moment of eruption.

And the scientists working for the meteorological institute said that the impact of the volcano’s eruption is no reason for concern. However, out of a sense of precaution, the team continues to monitor the activity around the volcano.

The Sakurajima volcano put on an impressive display of fireworks on Friday evening and it would seem that no casualties were reported so far. According to some reports on volcanic activity, it would seem that the most dramatic event involving an erupting volcano took place in 2014. After Mount Ontake erupted in the central part of Japan, approximately 57 were killed and many were taken to the hospital with first and second-degree burns.

The volcano’s eruption was spectacular indeed, but according to the scientists monitor the volcanic activity in the area, Sakurajima’s 2016 performance was overshadowed by the 2013 display, when the ashes rose approximately 4 kilometers into the air.
