BEACON TRANSCRIPT – Great news for the owners of Android-ready smart devices. According to a recent announcement, Facebook decided to bring back to life one of the most popular features of the social media platform. Facebook added multiple account control and SMS support, features which are now available to a few users from the United States.
On its quest for innovation, it would seem that Facebook does indeed have all it takes in order to remain the most popular choice in social media platforms. Quite recently, the tech giant announced that is testing out the SMS and multiple account features.
If memory doesn’t fail us, those who downloaded the pre-2013 version of Facebook Messenger were capable of using the IMS application in order to send an SMS to a person who either did not have a Facebook account or he or she was outside the list of friends.
After many considerations, Facebook declared the project dead and flushed out this feature from all versions of Facebook Messenger. The tech giant’s reason behind this bold move had something to do with the frequency of use.
According to Facebook, the company had to drop this service due to the fact that few customers used the service. But it would seem that the company had a change of heart in the meantime, and went ahead to reintroduce the service.
Facebook added Multiple Account Control and SMS support. Currently, these features are all part of a new update, and only a few Android users have received an invitation in order to try it out. To see if you are a part of the lucky lot, head on over to your Messenger’s setting and look for an option called Change SMS App. By activating it, you will be capable of sending off text messages to your friends outside your Facebook circle.
Note that the messages send via this method are not free of charge, and are subjected to fees of your wave carrier. Apart from SMS support, Facebook included another smooth feature in this new update.
According to the tech giant, your device will be able to host multiple accounts. Well, that’s not entirely something new, given the fact that the device can technically support any number of accounts. However, in order to access another account, you would have to sign out from one account and log on with another.
With this new update, you won’t need to that anymore. You will be able to create multiple accounts and the device will automatically memorize the information from each of them, thus, you will be able to change accounts in no time.
