Latest Rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S7

February 7, 2016 By Troy G. Bennett

"Latest Rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S7 "

The new handset will feature a 3000 mAh battery which will make the phone last 2 days after a full charge.

BEACON TRANSCRIPT – These days Samsung seems to be busy as a bee because, in just two weeks, the tech giant is going to unveil its newest flagship, the Galaxy S7. Here are the latest rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S7.

Over the last couple of months, there were many rumors about the S7 series. Although many of them were viewed with skepticism, most of them proved to be true. There was one referring to Samsung wanting to pack a more capacitive battery into the new handset.

Well, it would seem that this rumor is partly true, and we even have a witness to confirm it. Eldar Murtazin is a Russian blogger, specialized in writing techie articles. According to a recent post, the Russian blogger declared that he managed to take hold of some leaked pictures from Samsung, depicting the device’s battery capacity.

Frankly, if the rumors prove to be true, then we can only say this is the most logical step Samsung can take. Do keep in mind that most Samsung handsets from the Galaxy family are noted for their high specs, not for their battery life.

Now, according to these rumors, the new S7 handset will be able to last more than two days. If this statement seems baffling, wait until you hear about what other things can this battery do. According to the same Russian blogger, the device is capable of playing 17+ hours of HQ videos, with the screen set at 100 percent brightness.

And to top it all off, the handset will also be able to survive up to two days with the screen set at 75 percent brightness.

Coming directly from the horse’s mouth, it would seem that the tech giant opted to mount 3000 mAh battery on the S7 handset. As for the S7 edge, Samsung wants to mount a 3500 mAh. A most sensible move indeed, given the fact that Samsung has announced that it wants to update most of the applications from its online store.

According to the latest rumors about the Samsung Galaxy S7, it also seems highly plausible that the handset will be launched on the same date as LG G5. LG’s crowning achievement will feature a 5.5-inch screen, more storing space thanks to a nifty microSD slot and not to mention dual camera. Looks like Samsung has some tough completion ahead, but the company is not yet out of tricks.

James Vincent from The Verge reported that Samsung plans to launch on the same date a 360-degree camera that is compatible with the Galaxy S7.

Samsung’s flagship will go live on the 21st of February, during a tech event hosted in Barcelona.

Samsung Rolls Out Ad Blocking Feature

February 2, 2016 By Jennifer Licata

"Samsung Rolls Out Ad Blocking Feature "

The tech giant announced that Samsung browser will not support an ad blocking feature.

BEACON TRANSCRIPT – In an age filled with annoying pop-ups and surfing on the internet becomes and excruciating experience, the need for top-notch ad blocker is becoming direr. Apple understood the consequence of too many ads popping up the same page and along with its iOS 9 introduced an ad blocking support. Even Samsung rolls out ad blocking feature for their newest handsets.

Threading closely in the footsteps of tech giant Apple, which introduced ad blocking support for handsets running iOS 9.0, Samsung launched its own version of the software. According to Samsung, the ad blocking software package was developed by a South Korean tech company, and it will be compatible with the latest versions of the Samsung Browser.

So, if you are thinking of sprucing up you browser a bit, then you can’t use Samsung’s ad blocker outside its dedicated Internet browser. This also can be construed as a clever move from Samsung to catch up with other internet browsers which feature ad blocking support such as Google Chrome and Safari for iOS.

Despite the fact that the Samsung browser scored over 10 million downloads in Google Play, not counting the handset which came out of the box with a pre-installed browser, the little tyke still has some fighting to do in order to dethrone the king of all internet browsers.

According to a survey posted by Net Application, Chrome still remains the top choice when it comes to fast and reliable mobile internet browsers.

After the tech giant made the grand announcement, many developers have begun to design ad blockers which are compatible with Samsung’s own browser. If we take a closer gander in Samsung store, we can clearly see that the most popular ad blocker out there are Adblock Fast and Crystal, both of them being retrofitted to accommodate the Samsung browser’s newest version.

The tech giant mentioned that Android users running Lollypop or higher versions of the OS can now use the ad block feature with their Samsung browser.

So, Samsung rolls out ad blocking feature, and everybody out there is fearing that someday these kind of software will take away their livelihood. Well, it is true that such a software is unable to discriminate between the good ads and the bad ads. But, there is a little option out there which is called “exceptions”. By clicking on it, you could teach the software to not block the ads from a certain site.

The Crystal ad blocker is capable of blocking ads, malware and tracking technology while the Adblock Fast has several blocking filters and it is also compatible with other browsers such as Safari, Chrome and Opera.

Users have confirmed that by using an ad block feature, the browsing speed increases by 50 percent.

Apple and Samsung Want To Reinvent the SIM Card

July 17, 2015 By Clayton Meason

Apple and Samsung Want To Reinvent the SIM Card

At the current time, when you buy a new smartphone, you usually have to put a SIM card inside it in order for it to function. However, in the not too distant future, the traditional SIM card may not be the standard anymore as Apple and Samsung want to reinvent the SIM card. The two tech companies are trying to push the e-SIM as the new standard.

This change comes from the industry’s biggest players, Samsung and Apple, who are currently working alongside GSMA to replace the SIM cards with something that will be called the e-SIM. GSMA is an association that represents the entire mobile telecommunications industry.

The main benefit of the new e-SIM card is that it will allow people to switch between carriers with ease. In contrast, the normal SIM cards lock users onto a network, and don’t offer them the possibility to choose from other options.

The new e-SIM cards would become standardized among mobile phone manufacturers and would come built in the devices, which will create a something that’s referred to as “common architecture”.

Fundamentally, these e-SIM cards will be able to offer a lot more flexibility, and will allow users to switch to a new plan or between existing ones virtually instantly. According to a new report, some carriers have announced their support of the new e-SIM card already, including Vodafone, Telefonica, Orange, Hutchison Whampoa, Etisalat, Deutsche Telekom and AT&T.

At the current time, the two tech giants Samsung and Apple are continuing to work on finalizing the technical aspects linked to the new e-SIM cards. However, we shouldn’t expect smartphones to take advantage of this new technology very soon, because it could take more than a year or a couple of years before such mobile phones make their way on the market.

It’s worth mentioning that the Ipad Air 2 from Apple already makes use of a custom SIM developed by the company which allows its users to switch between mobile carriers seamlessly. The new report said that e-SIM cards won’t replace the SIM developed by Apple and built in the iPad Air 2. The difference between the two types of SIM cards is that the Apple SIM can be removed from the device and the e-SIM won’t be removable.

That being said, the GSMA is quite confident that this new technology will be adopted eventually by the telecommunications industry when it will launch sometime next year.
