The authorities reported that a two-year-old has passed away after an unsecured full-length mirror broke loose and fell on top of her. The event occurred on Friday night, at the Payless ShoeSource shopping center located near Riverdale’s Route 85. Shop’s owners are collaborating with the authorities to determine how the mirror fell from the wall.
Payless ShoeSource Claimed Mirror Was Secured
On Friday evening, two-year-old Ifrah Siddique was with her family at the Payless ShoeSource, south of Atlanta, to do a little shopping. According to the infant’s mother, at one point during their trip, Ifrah got separated from the rest of the group and went inside one of the changing rooms to try out a pair of shoes.
Ifrah’s parents declared that the last thing they’ve heard was a loud bang coming from the dressing room before seeing a crowd gathering in front of it. La Tisha Tultaick was working in the store next to Payless when she heard the commotion and went to lend a hand.
Tultaick revealed that she couldn’t help anyone as she was held back by the paramedics. However, before leaving, she caught a glimpse of what happened in the store’s changing room. The woman told the reporters that there was blood everywhere and that she saw the little girl’s body underneath the full-length wall mirror.
Ifrah was rushed to the nearest emergency hospital where she passed away a couple of hours later due to massive internal bleeding. Following the incident, the store’s owners brought in a team to replace and ensure that the new mirror is properly secured.
According to the authorities, there’s no indication that the mirror was not installed correctly. However, the still is under scrutiny. Meanwhile, a Payless spokesperson declared that the company was moved by the girl’s tragedy and is cooperating with the authorities to determine how the child was killed inside the dressing room.
