BEACON TRANSCRIPT – To make your trip more memorable, Uber pulled more aces out of its sleeve. Uber improves user experience with a new API, one that will be capable of bringing you more cool features.
Apart from their decision to expand their palette of services, Uber has a little celebration going on. According to sources inside Uber, it would seem that the transport giant is celebration its one billionth passenger brought safely to his destination.
And as a little incentive to the public, to show them that the company is on the constant lookout for possibilities to enhance the user experience, Uber announced that they will be launching a brand new application programming interface.
So, in simple terms what does that mean? Let’s take a few moments and imagine the following scenario. Say you need to take a 2-hour trip to the local mall. The next logical step, as a Uber aficionado, would be to fire up the application and order a ride.
But lengthy rides can ultimately prove to be tedious. Of course, you can engage in some friendly chit-chat with the driver or you can surf on the internet, but wouldn’t it be a lot easier if you had an application that can easily entertain you during these rides?
This was the dilemma Uber tried to solve before announcing the new API. According to their own statements, third-party application developers will now be able to use your personal information in order to feed you various forms of entertainment.
And it’s not as intrusive at it would seem at first glance. In order for the new system to work, a Uber user must grant access to the new API. This means that the developers can only show you their stuff if you’ll allow them to.
If the user agrees to the API’s terms and conditions, then they will be able to receive additional contents via their application.
