BEACON TRANSCRIPT – Last week, Niagara Falls Police aided by agents from NYPD and U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested 35-year-old Yong Lu. The Brooklyn man has been on the run since he allegedly chopped off his pregnant wife’s arm in a fit of anger.
Brooklyn Man Planned on Swimming to Canada, Authorities Declared
On Saturday, a police task force took Lu into custody. The suspect was inside the One Niagara food court when he was identified by a police officer. He was arrested without any incidents.
According to an NYPD spokesperson, the Brooklyn man has been sought by the authorities ever since his wife’s been admitted to a New York hospital with a severed limb.
Lu’s wife told the police that on Thursday, around noon, she got into an argument with her husband. Reportedly, Lu became angry because the couple’s 7-year-old son was late from school.
Things took a turn for the worse, as Lu picked up a steak knife and assaulted his wife. Following the attack, the woman lost her right arm and two fingers from the left arm.
When she arrived at the hospital, the ER doctors decided to place her in an induced coma, as Lu’s wife was pregnant. Reportedly, the surgeons have been successful in reattaching Mrs. Lu’s severed limb.
Meanwhile, the Brooklyn man confessed that after assaulting his pregnant wife, he planned on fleeing the country. More than that, he said that he had been more than willing to swim to Canada.
Conclusion
The authorities managed to track down the suspect after a bus driver notified the police about a man who wanted to ride illegally on a bus. Allegedly, Lu approached the bus driver and asked him if he could ride to Canada in the vehicle’s luggage compartment.
