BEACON TRANSCRIPT – On Saturday, Moses Lake police officers arrested a 19-year-old Washington woman and charged her with illegal possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. The suspect was caught shortly after she bragged on the police department’s Facebook about how she got away.

Washington Woman to Face Upgraded Charges Including Drug Use

According to Moses Lake Police Department, the suspect, later identified as Kayla Irizzary, had her first run-in with the authorities approximately two weeks ago.

Traffic monitor officer stopped 27-year-old Giovanni Powell, Kayla’s boyfriend. The man was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended driver’s license. Kayla, who was in the passenger’s seat, was released, as the officers had to reasons to arrest her.

After searching Powell’s vehicle, the authorities discovered a firearm, drug paraphernalia, and jail paperwork. All items belonged to the Washington woman.

Since Irizzary is a convicted, she’s no longer able to carry a firearm.

Two weeks later, Moses Lake Police Department found a curious message on its Facebook page.

Apparently, the 19-year-old woman, sought for unlawful gun possession, bragged about how she managed to outsmart the police.

Irizzary’s moment would be short-lived. A Moses Lake police officer, working undercover, contacted Ms. Irizzary over Facebook to set up a meeting.

Curiously enough, the woman took the bait, agreeing to meet the undercover cop.

On Saturday, at around 2:30 a.m., the Washington woman was arrested after a brief on-foot pursue. She was charged later that day with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and drug possession.

Conclusion

More than that, given Irizzary’s online bravado, the authorities could upgrade her charges. The woman was booked into the county jail on no bond. She will remain there until her trial.

Based on the paperwork the authorities discovered in her car, the Washington woman was convicted of drug possession.
