Beacon Transcript – Amazon’s AI assistant, Alexa, will receive a new, smart option that will please even the most tired user as it will enable a voice control of the connected devices with the help of Logitech’s Harmony Hub.
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) digital assistant industry has started receiving a better feedback and a wider range of applicability as the assistants span from the mobile system area, which includes the likes of Siri and Cortana, to various other apps in domains such as education and even health.
As such, Amazon announced on Tuesday that their AI-assistant, Alexa, will be receiving a new skill that will enable her to control all the devices connected to its network.
The connection will be enabled with the help of the Logitech Harmony Hub, which will allow Alexa to connect to the devices such as Amazon Echo or the Echo Dot.
Logitech, the Swiss-based company, has over 30 years of experience in the design and production areas of communication devices their products range spanning from the video, gaming, and computing to the music areas.
The collaboration between the Amazon Alexa devices and the Harmony hub remote will allow the users a simultaneous, voice-based access to all the synced smart home products, from the television to the smart blinds and digital light system.
The Logitech Activities will account for such a simultaneous series of actions as the users can program a pre-determined set of actions nestled under a specific name, and then have the AI bot trigger them.
After the Alexa assistant will be enabled and connected to the Harmony Hub, simple commands such as turning on the TV or switching channels will be controlled through a simple voice command.
Although other smart AV and TV devices produced by Samsung, LG, and so on already offer a voice control options, the Alexa-Harmony collaboration will still be quite unique.
Its innovation comes from the fact that it will allow for a complete voice command control of one’s smart devices without the use of IFTTT programming types.
The Alexa support that will allow the Harmony Hub connection is set to be enabled in the United States this week, and in the United Kingdom sometime in the following months.
Users will be able to access the Harmony option from their Alexa smartphone app by opening the Get More Smart Phone Skills section, that will connect it to the required hub remote.
