BEACON TRANSCRIPT – Goochland County deputies and FBI agents are investigating the strange case of a man from New Zealand shot outside a family’s house on Friday afternoon. According to the authorities, the 25-year-old flew from New Zealand to the United States to meet the family’s 14-year-old daughter.
New Zealand Man Allegedly Planned to Abduct the Teenage Girl
On Friday, Gooch Land county deputies arrested 25-year-old Troy Skinner after a woman called 911 to report a shooting.
According to the police report, the suspect had been shot by a Holland Hills Community woman after he allegedly used a brick to smash a glass window.
The investigation revealed that Skinner is from New Zealand and flew all the way to the United States to meet the Virginia woman’s teenage daughter. Skinner and the girl met several months ago through Discord, a communication platform quite popular among gamers.
Jim Agnew, Goochland County Sheriff, declared that several weeks before the incident, the teenage girl informed the New Zealand man of her decision of stopping all forms of communication.
Moreover, Skinner, who apparently developed an obsession for the girl, took every bit of money he could find around the house and bought a plane ticket to Australia.
From there, the individual booked passage to Los Angeles. Furthermore, police records indicated that the New Zealand man boarded a plane to Washington DC. Next, he took a bus to Richmond and hitched roughly 30 miles to the teen’s house.
Conclusion
The girl’s mother told the authorities that she knew that the man she had seen outside her home that afternoon was Skinner.
Allegedly, when the woman refused to let him in, Skinner used a brick to smash a glass door. That’s when the woman took up a handgun and shot the New Zealand man twice, hitting him once in the neck.
Skinner was taken to the hospital. Furthermore, the doctors said that he would survive. Authorities have yet to press charges against the New Zealand man.
