Bruce Straley, Very Well Known for Being the Co-Director of The Last of Us and Uncharted 4
Naughty Dog LLC is a first-party video game developer which first launched as an independent developer back in 1984. Bruce Straley first joined the company in 1999 as he was involved in the creation of Crash Team Racing.
However, Straley is best known for being the co-director of the fourth Uncharted installment. He is also the co-director of the universally acclaimed The Last of Us, a game considered as being among the best of all times by quite many people.
Bruce Straley worked together with Neil Druckmann, his creative partner, on both these games. As The Last of Us 2 was announced at last year’s PlayStation Experience, reports pointed to Straley’s decision of taking a sabbatical as he would not be reprising his role as director.
This has now come to an end as Straely announced, “with the heaviest of hearts”, that he would be leaving Naughty Dog after having spent 18 years with the developer.
He declared that “I’m leaving Naughty Dog with the strongest team it’s ever had, and that’s saying a lot. But more than the talent, it’s the people that I’ll miss the most. “
Straley then goes to thank his team and all the people that he’s had the chance to work with throughout the years, and also the fans.
At the end of his statement, Bruce Straley expresses his appreciation for Naughty Dog and states that he is ready to “continue the journey into the creative process”. However, he also states that he hasn’t got any new projects to announce just yet and that any announcements will probably be made on his Twitter page.
His announcement was quickly followed by responses and reactions from Naughty Dog’s Evan Wells, its president, and also Neil Druckmann.
