June 17 (Reuters) – Elon Musk, founder of private rocket company SpaceX, has been fired for producing and distributing a letter criticizing him, urging executives to be more inclusive of the company’s culture.

SpaceX did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

The New York Times reported on Thursday that SpaceX had fired the staff involved in the letter, citing three employees who were aware of the situation. It does not describe the number of employees laid off.

SpaceX chairman Quinn Shotwell sent an e-mail with which the company investigated and “laid off several employees involved,” the New York Times reported.

The newspaper quoted Shotwell as saying that other employees had been “fired for causing feelings of discomfort, intimidation and bullying, and / or anger, and that the letter had forced them to sign something that did not reflect their views.”

Reuters could not confirm that statement independently.
