Beacon Transcript – WhatsApp has introduced in its latest update a series of fun new features which will allow its users to further personalize their messages.
With these new options, the Facebook-owned application, a giant in its own rights in terms of number of users, seems to have thrown a direct challenge to its U.S. newest competitor, Snapchat, who has been gaining grounds with its application ever since it was released.
The WhatsApp update is mainly focused on media and what the smartphone holder will now be able to do with it. One of the app’s innovations is that it will allow users to connect the front camera of their Android phone and take excellent new selfies at a low light and in the night mode setting.
The phone’s camera powers have also been unleashed, as with the new update the user can apply specific hand gestures that will improve their handling of the device. One can now zoom in whilst filming by simply sliding a finger up or down the screen, and an equally easy double tap on the screen will allow you to switch between cameras.
But the fun new features don’t stop here, as the update’s biggest innovation is its unlocking of photo customizations and manipulations. Ever since Snapchat came up with the idea of using personalized pictures as a new type of message, this media feature has sprung up in a number of popularly used apps, as it has now come to be expected by users.
Although later in following the trend, WhatsApp’s fun new features will make customers forget its tardiness when they will be sending their media in this most pleasant way.
With the ability to personalize both new photos and videos taken with the camera and the media already stored on the device, it has never been easier for WhatsApp clients to send emojis, insert text or happily doodle away on their pictures. Not only will they be able to insert this set of new features, they can also further customize them and not settle for a standard version as the update comes with a number of caption options such as font and color.
Facebook, the giant owner of the app has tried in the past to come up with an application that mirrors its much younger competitor, Snapchat, but with its newest update for its famous WhatsApp service and an in-the-making story-style feature for Messenger, another one of its popular apps, their reign over media and communication seems quite stable.
What do the readers think, will WhatsApp’s fun new features stunt Snapchat’s growth outside of the U.S., or will it do nothing against the outspread of America’s newest trend?
