Jeremy Renner He was in critical but stable condition after crashing while plowing snow Sunday, a representative said.
“We can confirm that Jeremy is hospitalized in critical but stable condition after suffering a weather-related accident while plowing snow earlier today,” the rep said. “His family is with him and he is receiving excellent care.”
A spokesman later said in a statement that Renner, 51, “suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries” and underwent surgery. The actor was in intensive care on Monday evening.
The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to a report of a traumatic injury in the area of Mount Rose Highway in Reno, Nevada, around 9 a.m. local time (12 p.m. ET) on Sunday.
It said only Renner was injured.
“Deputies coordinated with the Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and REMSA Health to arrange for Mr. Jeremy Renner’s medical transport to a local area hospital via maintenance flight,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
The Sheriff’s Office’s Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the incident.
It is not known exactly where he was injured. According to Renner, there is a house in Nevada Associated Press.
In 2015, he posted a Photograph For the Snowcat vehicle’s Instagram, it’s used in snowy conditions. It was not immediately clear if a vehicle was involved in Sunday’s incident.
Renner is best known for playing Hawkeye as part of Marvel’s Avengers team. He is a two-time Oscar nominee for his roles in “The Hurt Locker” and “The Town.”
A spokesman for Renner said Monday that his family wanted to express their gratitude to his doctors and nurses, first responders and others.
“They are overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from his fans,” the statement said.
