Polaroid launched a camera that is both digital and has an instant printing system
BEACON TRANSCRIPT – On their 80th anniversary, Polaroid released a new camera that is sure to get fans from all generations. They unveiled the new device at CES 2017. Polaroid Pop is both analog and digital and is sure to appeal to both nostalgic old school photographers and social media hyped teenagers. The camera is exquisite as it is fashioned with Polaroid’s traditional print system.
Since we live in the era of instant photography, this seems like a risky choice made by Polaroid. Customers find it more appealing to capture moments on their smartphones and share photos via Instagram and Snapchat than to carry separate cameras to take professional photos. But Polaroid’s new camera combines the old and the new and it is sure to strike among people from all the categories.
Despite the mechanical printing system, Pop has a modern HD display with a 3.97-inch LCD screen. The camera has a 20-megapixel sensor with dual LED flash. It can even record videos of 1080p resolution. The new generation’s favorite will surely be the selfie mode and the option that allows you to edit the photos and add different filters or stickers to it. The camera has a storage of 128 GB with a micro SD memory card.
Moreover, Pop can share photos with smartphones using Bluetooth or via Wi-fi. The sharing works both ways, so you can send any photo from Instagram or other social media platforms to your Polaroid. Why bother to send pictures from your phone or from Snapchat to the camera? Because it can print any photo you want, whether it is taken by it or sent from a phone. Basically, you can choose any photo you want and have it instantly printed.
The Polaroid representatives are optimistic about the launch. They are sure that Pop will be a hit, given the astounding success Pop’s predecessor had. The predecessor, Polaroid Snap, sells incredibly fast. It met huge popularity among young people, too, and we can say it prepared the market for the release of Pop.
The release date for Polaroid Pop has not been made public yet, but it is estimated to appear in stores just in time for the holiday season, in late 2017. The price would vary around $200. You will be able to purchase a pack of 30 sheets of printing paper for only $20. The ZINK Zero Ink paper comes with a sticker on the back so that you can put the pictures wherever you like.
