BEACON TRANSCRIPT – During E3 2017, Nintendo made a series of announcements, and some of them contributed to the excitement of old school fans who still appreciate vintage games and consoles. Therefore, a new title is scheduled for release this year. We are talking, of course, about Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions.
Nintendo still releases game for the portable 3DS
The game is a turn-based RPG and will feed the nostalgia of older players since it will be released exclusively for the handheld 3DS console on October 6th. Moreover, the title is, in fact, a remake of the popular Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, which was released in 2003, and could be played on Game Boy Advance.
Most announcements made by Nintendo at E3 2017 consisted of games for the handheld Switch console. However, the old portable 3DS is still a priority for the company since, besides the Mario & Luigi game, Nintendo also announced another title for it, namely Metroid: Samus Returns.
The classic Mario game plus an extra campaign
The remake did not bring only better graphics and a more modern take on the classic game, but also some additional content. Bowser’s Minions represents an entirely new campaign, where you have to take control of a Goomba squad and save their master, who is also Mario’s arch enemy, Bowser.
Superstar Saga gathered a lot of fans thanks to the unusual gameplay, which allowed them to control both Mario and Luigi by using a different set of buttons. Also, the game didn’t lack humor and memorable lines uttered by amusing characters, such as Fawful.
The game was followed by a series of many other sequels, including Partners in Time, Bowser’s Inside Story, Luigi’s Dream Team and, in the end, Paper Jam. However, fans still consider the first game as the most worthy of praise. Therefore, reviving this classic title was a smart move by Nintendo, allowing fans to re-explore their favorite universe.
