BEACON TRANSCRIPT – Cracking your iPhone’s screen was always a bother, not only because of the broken glass, but also because it was hard to repair. Users had to either go to an Apple Store to have their phones fixed, or trust an unofficial shop which might not always repair the device properly. This is why Apple decided to bring official mending machines closer to the customers.
By the end of 2017, the company should equip around 400 third-party units and shops with their official machines which mend broken screens. These units are spread all over 25 countries. Apple even revealed which will be the first centers to benefit from these products.
Where can you find a Horizon Machine?
Among them, there is Best Buy, as the place has been selling Apple products for quite a long time. In fact, the retailer already benefits from one such magical machine. The screen-fixing ‘wizard’, called Horizon Machine, can be found in a shop in the Miami area, but another will soon be found in a center from Sunnyvale, California.
This attempt is, in fact, a smart business move. Before, only 500 retail centers benefited from a Horizon Machine, which had led to great waiting times for people to have their screen fixed. Therefore, Apple decided to expand the machine line and reach other countries as well. Apart from the American shops, some other Horizon Machines are already available in London, Singapore, and Shanghai.
Only a Horizon Machine can fix an iPhone screen properly
Some customers might say they can have their cracked iPhone screen replaced in any shop and still preserve their warranty intact. However, the trickiest accidents can be mended only by a Horizon Machine, such as a broken fingerprint sensor.
Apple started fixing iPhone screens only three years ago. Until then, they replaced an entire phone with a broken screen, and customers without a warranty had to pay a fee. Then, they realized they could make a business out of screen mending, so they created the Horizon Machine. This is in fact more convenient for the customers, and assures a quick fix without the need of waiting for an entirely new phone.
