South Carolina Couple Claimed To Be too Tired to Clean out Home
On Monday, the authorities arrested Jenny Lynn Paradis, 43, and Joshua Palmer Vaught, the woman’s 22-year-old boyfriend. Both were charged with unlawful child neglect. Paradis was additionally charged with animal cruelty.
Based on the incident report, the authorities were called that day due to the unbearable smell that was coming from Paradis’ house.
Upon arriving at the location, the law enforcement officers discovered piles of maggot-infested trash in front of the house. Furthermore, an inspection of the yard revealed the South Carolina couple kept pets in unimaginable conditions.
According to the arresting officers, an emaciated pit bull and a cat with a purulent head infection were recovered by animal control. In addition, a dead squirrel was found inside the house.
However, the front part of the house was only the tip of the iceberg. Inside, the officers discovered two infants covered in insect bites and sores.
When asked about the home’s appalling condition, Paradis declared that she was aware that there was dirt in the house, but she and her boyfriend were just too tired to address the issue.
She did mention that her children would take baths on a regular basis. However, the police established that the bathroom was as filthy as the rest of the house, with spiders pouring out of the tub.
The South Carolina couple was later arrested and charged with unlawful child neglect. Paradis was also charged with animal cruelty.
The children were taken to the hospital and later placed in protective custody. Vaughn was released the following day, after posting his $2,500 bond.
