While summer activities have began weeks ago in many countries, people, especially males, do not apply sunscreen wean outdoors. While the sun’s rays can help the body synthesize needed vitamins and the clean air is widely recommended, not wearing basic protection can lead to skin cancer.
More than 90 percent of skin cancers are due to overexposure to ultraviolet radiation from the Sun or tanning beds.
So deciding what type of sunscreen you need, based on the amount of time and exposure to sunlight you plan for that day, should be a priority.
But a study conducted by the Northwestern University found that a worring amount of the population has no idea what type of protection they need to buy. Labels containing data on SPF and UV protection are misunderstood if read at all.
Application of sunscreen lotion does not affect the melamine the body produces ad thus allows for tanning but not skin burn.
Experts recommend that people planning to sunbathe should buy a sunscreen with at least 30 SPF which means a 30 times longer period of acceptable exposure to UV radiation.
If someone was to experience burns after 15 minutes for example then 30 SPF allows that person’s skin to withstand sunlight for 7 hours and a half before small burns start to appear.
The sunscreen also has to be water and sweat resistant in order effectively protect all parts of the skin. If sweat or water can remove the sunscreen applied than the skin could be as exposed as if there was no application at all.

UV damage is extremely hazardous, and even if it does produce cancer immediately , the effects on the skin over many years can be cumulative.
But even if you never get cancer from sunburn and UV radiation, the damage is unaesthetic and can hurt.
The head also needs protection from prolonged exposure to sunlight. If not , headaches and other related pains can be experienced, and in some cases exposure to too much heat and Sun can lead to cardiac arrest.
