His father is no ordinary hero.
The son of late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins performed on stage Saturday night in honor of his father.
Sixteen-year-old Oliver Shane Hawkins played drums on “My Hero”. “Taylor Hawkins Tribute Concert.” London.
Images of the father and son were shown on screens in the arena as the song began, revealing the young man behind the drumset.
Musicians from around the world rallied to support Hawkins, with various artists covering songs from the Foo Fighters’ extensive catalog.
Some of the musicians who paid tribute were Travis Barker of Blink-182, Rufus Tiger Taylor of The Darkness, Wolfgang Van Halen and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl’s daughter Violet.
Former Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher paid tribute with his band’s “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star” and “Live Forever” backed by the Foo Fighters with Grohl on drums, Pat Smear and Chris Shifflett on guitar and Nate Mendel on bass.

Hawkins died of heart failure on March 25 in Bogotá, Colombia at the age of 50.
He is survived by his wife Alison Hawkins and three children – Oliver Shane, Annabelle Hawkins, 13, and 8-year-old Everleigh Hawkins.
