BEACON TRANSCRIPT- The Black Moon will appear in the sky on the last day of September, this Friday. This should occur around 8 P.M , 8:11 P.M to be exact. The problem is that we won’t get to see it. Due to the fact that is Black, as its name says, it is going to be “lost” in the dark sky. Despite this, the Black moon will help us see the stars really clear. So if you want to find out more about the constellation now is your time.
This type of moon is considered the second new moon in a month. The unusual thing is that this event happens every 32 months and the last one was in March 2014. This means that the black moon is revealing itself sooner than expected.
The “normal”, silver moon that we are used to is not going to appear in the sky for a few days after the black moon because the moon needs to increase in size.
The Europeans, Asians, Australians and Africans are going to have the black moon on the 1st October because the moon won’t be black until midnight.
February is the typical month in which this event happens because it has 28 days and this type of moon care describe a month without a new moon or a full moon. The only month that can’t provide a full or a new moon is the shortest one, February.
Another peculiar thing is that earlier this month we had a similar moon related event; the Harvest Moon Lunar Eclipse and typically these two moon events don’t happen in the same month.
Like any other event, the Black Moon inspires some people that are scared to predict different weird things. Many think that it is the harbinger of another “apocalypse” and that Jesus is going to come to Earth.
Maybe they got inspired by the Book of Mathew 24:29 which reads:
“Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken.”
Of course, this kind of assumptions are not the real and scientific ones and should not be treated as such.
What is your opinion about the Black Moon and Harvest Moon happening in the same month? Do you think that this means something else than a simple moon-event?
