BEACON TRANSCRIPT – CDC has recently issued a warning regarding treatments for chronic Lyme disease which, in fact, does not exist. This condition is different from standard Lyme disease, and is not recognized by most doctors. However, a small number of health practitioners regard it as a long-term affliction and claim to be able to treat it.
Chronic Lyme disease is not a real illness
Chronic Lyme disease is not officially recognized by doctors and medical experts. However, a few doctors, most of them self-proclaimed healers, claim this condition is characterized by long-term lethargy, fatigue, and general pain.
Although experts have identified no cause for this so-called chronic Lyme disease, there appeared many treatments which should supposedly cure the condition. What is worrying is the fact that these unnecessary treatments can have dangerous effects, and sometimes might be fatal.
These practitioners claim that chronic Lyme disease arises from standard Lyme disease, which is an infection produced by the microbe Borrelia burgdorferi, and is transmitted via tick bites. It can easily be detected from the microbe’s presence in the blood, and up to four weeks of antibiotics should cure the condition.
Faulty treatments can be lethal
Traces of the microbes can still be identified in the bloodstream even several months after the infection is cured. However, these practitioners diagnose and administer treatments for chronic Lyme disease even when the person tests negative for Borrelia burgdorferi.
This is a serious problem, since many people became ill or even died after receiving unnecessary treatments. In some cases, people fail to discover the real cause of their illness while undergoing faulty therapy, which either leads to the worsening of their condition or to their death.
Therefore, people should be careful if they receive a chronic Lyme disease diagnose. CDC warns that the disease is not real, and they should go see another medical professional and seek a second diagnose. If they don’t, they risk leaving the real cause of their symptoms untreated.
