Walmart apologizes for the new taste of branded ice cream from a retailer known as “Junteenth”, sparking criticism that the company is trying to monetize a holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.

In a statement to CBS MoneyWatch, Walmart said it was reviewing its product classification and would “remove relevant items”. He added, “The Jundeen holiday marks the celebration of freedom and independence. However, we have received feedback that some products have caused concern to some of our customers, and we sincerely apologize.”
