BEACON TRANSCRIPT – A new dietary trend has arisen among people, which is advertised as a sure way to help them lose weight. We are talking about water fasting, which involves drinking only water and eating no food for several days or sometimes weeks. Although it sounds like the easiest technique for weight loss, experts advise people to avoid it, as it is incredibly harmful.
People promote water fasting on social media
This is the best time of the year to advertise diets, as people tend to overeat during the holidays. They often notice they have put on a few pounds which are really hard to shed, so they are easily fooled into trying the unhealthiest methods to become slim again.
Unfortunately, the latest trend in terms of diets is extremely dangerous. Water fasting has rapidly grown in popularity on social media, where people share posts containing the hashtag #waterfast and encourage others to adopt the method. Apart from weight loss, some of them say it helped them with their sleep, and purified their skin.
Such a diet might be the most dangerous dietary choice you can make
However, experts attack water fasting and encourage people not to be fooled by it. Instead of being a cleansing method, consuming nothing but water leaves your body starving. It prevents people from getting the daily nutrients they need, and can quickly turned into the most dangerous weight loss method ever adopted by anyone.
Some experts even compared water fasting with anorexia, as it also involves extreme eating habits as an attempt to get slimmer. The body gets its energy source from fats. However, whenever it thinks it has encountered an emergency, it switches to eating the muscle. If you keep feeding the body only water, it can quickly turn to consuming the muscle.
Fasting might sometimes work, including water fasting as well. However, people need to be extremely careful when choosing such a diet. It is not suitable for anyone, and it’s better to be avoided by people who are already quite slender. For obese people, it might work, but they also need some professional advice before hopping on such a diet.
