Zach Wilson is questionable to return after suffering a knee injury in the Jets’ preseason opener

Jets Second-year quarterback Zach Wilson sat out New York’s preseason opener Philadelphia Eagles After a knee injury. With just over four minutes to play in the first quarter, Wilson took a first-and-10 snap from New York’s 40-yard line and went wide right. As he returned from the top, Wilson attempted a cut towards the middle of the field to shake a tackler loose and went down miserably.

He was initially helped by a teammate and was remarkably relaxed. Wilson was then sent to the locker room for further evaluation and officially the Jets His return was questionable With a knee injury. Veteran Mike White came in at quarterback following Wilson’s injury.

It’s just an exhibition, so even though he’s sick, it’s no surprise that he’s sidelined for the rest of the game. The injury does leave room for concern, however, as Wilson doesn’t look like he’s touched when he takes the field. Anytime an unrelated injury occurs, it should leave the team breathless.

Before the injury, Wilson wasn’t off to a hot start. On the Jets’ opening drive of the evening, he threw a nasty interception to Eagles linebacker Kysir White on a pass to Corey Davis. Wilson completed three of his five passes for 23 yards.

The No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft enters his sophomore season after a rocky rookie campaign. In 13 games, he completed just 55.6% of his passes for 2,334 yards, nine touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
